Look, I'm not asking for therapy. There's just a problem that's well out of my area of knowledge, and of people I can think of who might know anything about it- well, I trust you the most.

It's about Bran- the boy I brought on the ship a few months ago? Apparently he's a prince and recently, a few people from his world have arrived that he's shown...concern over.

There's this family...called the Lannisters? Apparently they killed Bran's father and they also tried to kill him for seeing something he wasn't supposed to- that's why he can't walk anymore.

Anyway, a Lannister showed up named Tyrion. And apparently Tyrion's been nice to him in the past but he's not sure where Tyrion's motives lie. And there's this King Robert that was comrades with Bran's father when they were young, so he wants to look after Bran and his sister- but Bran's worried because he's married to a Lannister so if he found out what happened after he died he's not sure where the King's loyalties will lie. Not to mention he seems like an arse from his broadcast, and Bran decided to lie and say I'm a knight that's looking after him...

[He gives a helpless shrug]

I don't know what to do. He keeps coming to me for help, like he's hoping I'll fix things, but it's not like there's anything I can punch to make it go away.

[ the more allen talks, the more that this sounds... freakishly like the clusterfuck that is his family, and by the end of it, zuko looks tired. ]

There's no point to claim royalty or kingship here.

[ zuko rules an entire nation and he doesn't go about introducing himself that way, because there's no point. there's no land to have, or people to serve, or rule. no one is impressed by it, and no one should be. it's pointless to flaunt. ]

Most people, once they figure that out, get over themselves and deal with it, but it's an adjustment. A lot of these people have probably never worked a day in their lives, or experienced any type of hardship. Just because they're royalty doesn't make them powerful, or worthy of the title. Bran probably has nothing to worry about.

People who use force to solve all of their problems always have the same weakness of having too much pride. If he thinks he's all-powerful, then he's going to have a rude awakening.

[ zuko is royalty but he's also powerful, which is more than he can say for most of the kings he's met in his world-hopping career. ]

Yeah, he probably will, sooner or later...

[He's seen it before, in the past. Most of the time from a distance, and one time so up close that in general he didn't like to think too much about how that one turned out...]

[..Sigh. He leans over and pours himself a cup of tea. Honestly, if it was just about him? This would be easy. He knows it. He'd just tell these people to fuck off. But he knows it's different with Bran being a kid, who has a lot to fear and can't really defend himself.]

I just want to look after Bran, he's part of the crew. He seems pretty scared about these people.

They all seem barbaric.

[ typical aristocrats, in zuko's experience. most of the fire nation royals enjoyed bloodsport for funzies. zuko got half of his face burned off for suggesting "hey, let's not kill innocents." it was great. ]

So he probably has a good reason to fear them, but there's no need. Just be realistic -- what are they really going to do? And besides, he's just a kid, but kids know when you're lying. Just be honest.

[ he's normally not one for sharing his story or whatever, but he survived living with a bunch of bloodthirsty psychopaths. bran is still a kid. trauma is fresher when it's experienced for the first time. ]
